What advice would you give to someone who is feeling hopeless?

I sometimes feel like I'm lacking hope and sometimes, I am facing friends or family who appear to be lacking hope. Is there anything, that can be said? If someone is in chronic pain, what can you do to help? If someone has lost someone, what can you say? I never know what to do/say and just say, ';it'll be ok';.What advice would you give to someone who is feeling hopeless?
Just let them know that you are there for them. It's tough to deal with people with chronic pain because often times going through their story of the pain and how it affects them can be very hard. I found it easier for me if people asked less about my pain because when I think about my pain it gets worse. The people that helped me the most were the ones who were there for me when I needed them but then treated me like I was normal when I didn't want to talk about my pain. What advice would you give to someone who is feeling hopeless?
Well growing up in foster care i was in that place alot everyday someone was hurt and everyday so was i all i can say is when someone is feeling hopeless find all the positive stuff you can and bring it out let them know you will always be there for them and cry alittle it helps. for people with all kinds of problems like i said if there sad find something to make them smile and when your feeling down think of what tomorrow can bring think of your future and how beautiful it can be think of all the good never the bad cast all the bad away and you should be fine.

and one last thing when ever helping someone going threw a hard time find something to do to take there mind off of it see a movie go to the beach or to eat.
If it is a person in despair, then I would advise eating certain foods high in B12, B5, B6 or B3. Warm milk, cheese on toast, are perhaps the best remedy as both contain B12 and B3.

Getting a good nights sleep is imperative for this person. A warm bath will help this process, and some soft soothing music and dimmed lights. Nothing too demanding for the mind (no TV, or difficult mental routines).

As to what to say, perhaps offer to make the person a cup of hot milk with or without cocoa/decaffeinated coffee.

Then just listen to what they have to say, if they say anything. Do not try to solve the problem, just show them that you are listening by confirming your understanding of what they are saying.

If they ask you what you would do, then tell them you'd sleep on it. Everything will seem different when you wake up to a new day. Hope rises in the morning, and sets in the evening.

Get outside the next day in the sunshine. Do some physical exercise, and most of all eat a healthy and a well balanced diet.
Hopelessness as a short -term, temporary condition is quite functional, in special it is adaptive after the experince of lose, failure ot frustration, however, a hopelessness feeling that associates with decreased self-esteem, pesimism, depressed mood, restlessness, fatigue, changes in the patterns of appetite, sexual drive, weight and sleep, might lead us to diagnose an emotional disturbance. It is not so easy to label us as a depressed person, the above mentioned signs shoud takes long for few weeks.

Please have a look on the following links if you like to have a mood quiz:

Please explain the conditions that caused your current hopeless state, see whether it is temporary or long-lasting, does it associates witht he above signs. I think if the answer is yes, then we could think on how to challenge with it.
..that morning comes every day; the sunrise does not

fail, nor the sunset.

Give it time. That is all that may be required. Just give

it time. Do not try to push the river. The cycles of life

present themselves, play themselves out, and make

smooth every passage and terrain.

Try not to get caught up in your story of the moment.

Look, rather, to the Long Story. Therein will be

found your peace. The cycles will redeem this

moment, if you let them, and even this shall pass
its just spantenous experience by the time and one can only solve trouble himself because nobody knows who you are better than you know yourself..

when l feel hopeless about something , then l m trying to cope with this and l do.. success.. sometimes its diffucult to solve the problems but it worths for this because at least it brings you self-consious - self trust-
Look on Amazon for a book called 'The power of Now', it's helped me through some difficult times and I highly recommend it. There's a link below.
