Any advice on how to get started as a Freelance Writer?

I need to earn some extra income. I believe that I have excellent writing and communication skills. However, I do not


have a college degree. I would appreciate any suggestions on


how to proceed. Maybe someone (already) successful in this


area can suggest a ';book'; or a ';website'; that might help.

Send e-mails to the editors of local newspapers and magazines inquiring about freelance opportunities available. You'll likely get grunt work and stories their top reporters don't want to do.





Don't count on always getting paid either. Sometimes you'll write several articles trying to prove yourself and end up with no pay. It all depends on the publication and their policies.
