Advice please on how to stop my 7mth old cats pooping on the floor beside the litter tray?

I have 2 cats who have been perfectly happy using their litter tray until recently. Either one or the other poops on the floor right by the tray and it is driving me mad. They have access through a cat flap to the outdoors and will come back inside to do their business. How do they learn to do it outside?Advice please on how to stop my 7mth old cats pooping on the floor beside the litter tray?
you can sell it and get an older one with the moneyAdvice please on how to stop my 7mth old cats pooping on the floor beside the litter tray?
put a diaper on you kitty
most common reason for this if it's not normal behavior is a bladder infection. they are trying to get your attention.

but having 2 separate litter box may be the solution. most vets will tell you that they should have separate litter boxes.

you should try another litter box first, if that doesn't help take them to the vet to make sure it's not an infection.
yep shoot them.
Use one inch of litter in the tray and keep the litter immaculate. Don't change litter brands suddenly, and don't use a lot of litter. That should solve your problem.
if you take advice from these cruel people then you shouldnt be aloud animals. the cat will grow out of it, my cat done it when they do it you just have to put them in the litter tray.
You should just close the doors and leave them outside a day. They will eventually go to the bathroom outdoors. If it doesn't work do that for a few more days. It will work.
I had this problem, too. What solved it was adding a second litter box and keeping both cleaned daily. Multi-cat litter might help, too. Getting them to do their business outside...depends on the cat and what's available for them outside (flower bed, sandy corner of yard, etc.).
there are special sprays for that, just ask at the animals store
sometimes if you leave thier box dirty, they will retailiate against you and poop/pee on the floor. Make sure they have a clean box.
haha my cats now 3 years old i remeber when it was small. when it was first introduced to the outside world he allways came back in to do the toliet in his litter tray haha we just laughed and said do that outisde.

but anyway atleast he done it in his tray its odd have you tryed cleaning the little tray out? cause my cat wont use a dirty liter tray .
Sometimes they dont like the smell of the tray. Have you changed the type of litter you use? Also do you empty and clean the tray regularly? Put the tray on a couple of sheets of newspaper to make clearing up easier. I also found that cats can be out in garden for hours and then come indoors to use the tray. It is what you have taught them No different to you coming in from the garden to go to the loo . You have domesticated your cats to use their toilet indoors. That is what they will continue to do. Some gardeners will be pleased they dont poo outdoors rand dig plants up.
firstly how big is the litter tray? you have to make sure its clean other wise they will not go in it. put the litter tray in a secluded area so they will feel more comfortable pooping.
Move the litter tray outside , it worked for me , make sure the tray is clean , they wont mess in it if its too dirty .
I can't believe what psychos can write here (I mean that ones advicing you to killl your animals)!

My dear, the age is telling its word: the cats are big girls by now, so they start to have territorial and sexual feelings. Because of that, it's recommanded to have a tray for every single cat! Urinating is not just a dirty job as you might think, it is a stepping up question!!! So, buy a second tray, clean up very well the first one, using also a feromone spray from the pet shop (it's about ';second cat'; variant) and use this spray everywhere they use to urinate.

Good luck!
Your cat(s) may be trying to tell you something...........that they dont like the litter you are using..........check with the breeder, or if they are not pedigree with the owner of the mother.....find out what litter they were used to as babies, cats do not like change!

Another possible remedy is to buy a litter tray which has a removable hood, some of these also have a door which personally I recommend you remove, most cats dont like being completely shut in.

If it turns out to be the litter being changed you can address this by simply sprinkling a small amount of the litter they do like on top of the one they dont............after a few weeks this will no longer be neccesary.

With regards to them learning to go outside..............they took long enough to learn to go in the litter tray.........some cats will habitually return from a lengthy run outdoors just for the purpose of using their toilet............dont complain about it, be happy they use the tray !

If they eventually go outside as well as using the tray you're onto a winner in every way.
How old are your cats? They usually use a common litter tray happily until they grow to the age in which they mark their own territory. It is advisable you use 3 litter trays (one for each, plus one extra) in different points of the house. You could also change the material you put in the litter: probably they just don't like it. It has to be fine and dry. I don't think you can ';teach'; a cat to do it outside, it's in their instinct to choose the right place. My cat used to cry to come inside the first times we put him out, now he's grown up a little everything's just fine. Good luck!!
Try to change the cat litter and change it more regularly.
we had this problem, and cruel as it sounds we locked the cat flap for 24hrs and left them outside, they got the message. why have you got a litter tray at all if they have outside access? get rid of it !
Just praise them with treats or something when they do it in the litter tray, and when they do it outside the tray shout at them with a firm voice. Then they will learn that when they do it in the litter tray good things happen and they should automatically start doing it in there with no treats!
It's hard to teach a litter-trained cat that the outdoors is one big litterbox.

As for the indoors problem, it's probably one of 3 things. Either the litterbox isn't clean enough to suit them; they don't like the kind of litter you're using; or one (or both) of them don't like sharing a litterbox.

I'd try getting another box, putting it in a different place, and trying different kinds of litter to see if any of that helps.

You could also get a big mat to put under the box, so that if they go on that it would at least be easier to clean up.
Big boot + Cats *** = Clean floors
move it over to the spot where they're doing it.

mahahhhaha
do two trays.... simple common sense... oh they don't allow you to think for yourself anymore in school.... By the way... it's a brother/sister problem with your cats....
my cat used to do that alot. I got one of them domed lid litter boxes and he stopped.
when our cats peed in the corner of our room we put down holly and sprayed it with citrus they dont like the smell

hope i helped
put cat nip leaves in the tray you can get it at your pet shop, it worked on mine

good luck
