Need advice on painting and decorating ideas?

Just bought a new home. Walls are flat white, vaulted ceilings with ';half'; wall dividing living room and kitchen, and beige carpet. My couch and love seat are also beige. I desperately want to add some color to the main part of my home, but I am not very creative. Would like some suggestions on paint colors and maybe some chair rail, or crown molding? How would I break up the colors going into kitchen or should I paint everything the same color? Thanks in advance for suggestions. I am going to try posting some pictures.Need advice on painting and decorating ideas?
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family %26amp; color name, the ';painted'; rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think a warm color like ';sweet orange'; (# 6351) would look terrific in the living room, and then maybe transition into a brown like ';pottery urn'; (# 7715) in the kitchen.

You can also take a photo of your house %26amp; upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions %26amp; they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

As far as where to paint a new color, any time you have a corner is an opporyunity to change colors. Check out the way they use multiple colors in these open floor plans:

Whenever I'm stumped with a decorating dilemma what I do is look at color schemes in magazines, in home decor websites and the like. It helps to be able to visualize my decorating scheme. One thing I also do is browse area rugs -- because I love them and feel that they are a staple in every decorating scheme. I look at the colors and patterns in the rug and try to coordinate the rest of the room with them.

A wonderful color that supports beige is either a darkish red or maybe a or a crown blue color... paint the half wall a shade lighter than the actuall color of the living room to divide the spaces... now pick any color for the kitchen that complaments yhur living room color.... dont worry it'll look great... if you need any acessories or ideas go to this site...

Hope i helped =)
I tend to think a lighter color such as '7241W Sun Shimmer' '7202W Lilting Green' are nice to really open up and brighten a room like a living, dining room or family room:

Darker colors I recommend are '7324D Indian Turnip' or 7306N 'Cinnamon Cider' as warm tones are especially welcoming in the kitchen area:

Bedroom colors typically being more neutral I recommend

'7490W Faded Lilac' see top of page at link: http://www.materials-world.com/paint-col鈥?/a>

or '7101W Blue Gossamer' See top of page at link:

As for chair railing I find this particular type to be nice and elegant without being too busy plus very affordable.

Good luck with and many blessings with your new home. :)
