What advice would you give someone starting a small business?

I want to start my own business that helps the world in a great way and I need to know what skills, traits, knowledge and ect. I need to have in order to pursuit it.What advice would you give someone starting a small business?
The best advice I can give you is start out slow and at the bottom..Learn EVERYTHING there is to know about your business..And work up from there..Don't try to start out too big with no idea what your doing that is the receipt for disaster...And make sure it is something you are very, very compassionate about that is what will keep y ou going during the hard times..Good Luck and remember always follow your dreams they are never wrong..ss

Many great business were started by people who had nothing more than common sense. If you use that everything else will fall into place. Try and read history of Coca-cola, McDonalds, KFC, Virgin, HP, Microsoft
lower your goals. I am not sure you can create a small business that helps the WORLD in a great way. Those are usually foundations and are not made for profit. Businesses are made for profit. You need to have some sort of concept of a product or service before you get excited about a business. those skills, traits and knowledge will be related to the product or service.
