I have a cheap one which broke off in the cork, the cork is out a little bit, any ideas how to get it out completely without a corkscrew? Please don't tell me to go buy a corkscrew cause the shops are closed where I live, and I do not want to ask a neighbour either.
Thanks in advance!Any advice how to open a corked bottle of wine without a corkscrew?
Use the handle end of a wooden spoon and push the cork into the bottle, Cheers!Any advice how to open a corked bottle of wine without a corkscrew?
If the cork is falling apart and impossible to remove with your wine-opener, you can disgorge it with a simple, hand-made tool.
After gently pushing it into the bottle, take some strong, thick string with a large knot at one end and dip it into the bottle. The cork will be floating on the surface, so you want to work the knot below the cork.
The idea is to get the knot below the cork so that it is positioned upright for removal. Now pull gently on the string until the cork is wedging its way up the neck of the bottle (the reverse process of insertion). Pull on the string, and the cork will pop out.
You can also use a long plastic straw with a knot tied at one end. I've successfully used both methods.
If you want to do it the way French Army Officers do it then take a large carving knife (or ceremonial sword if you have one).
Hold the bottle in your left (palm up, bottle on top of your palm, cork facing away from you).
Hold the knife in your right hand.
Place the knife across the neck of the bottle so the BLUNT side of the knife is against the rim of the top of the bottle.
Slide the knife down the bottle and then swiftly back up.
The knife will hit the rim, which will come cleanly off.
Even a novice can do it easily after just a couple of tries.
Just be careful :)
screw a long sheet rock screw into the cork and use a hammer claw to pry the cork out...
you can also try hitting the bottom of the bottle against a phone book, the pressure is supposed to pop the cork out after a few hits from what ive heard.
You might have to just push the cork into the bottle. If you dont have a bottle stopper, you'll just have to finish the whole thing. I've had this happen to me before and that was my only solution.
either push the cork in, or i have used a screw before and screw it into the cork until you can pull it out with the screw
Push the cork in. Use the wide end of a butter knife or something blunt and gently pound with a hammer until the cork goes into the bottle.
push it in over a sink cause it will overflow and be messy !!!
or since you said its already out a little bit. go grab some pliers and yank it outa there like a tooth !
