Earn the money doing chores as a group. Put out flyers announcing a chore day and list of chores you will do for money like lawn mowing, window washing, garden clean up, flowerbed clean up.

Answer to Q # 1: don't sell candles, magazine subscriptions, cookie dough - keep it simple and inexpensive - like chocolate almonds

Contact local businesses. Grocery stores would be a logical place to start because even if they don't donate cash they may donate product.
