The question pretty much says it all. A friend of mine (who is a minor and lives at home) is gay, and hadn't came out yet to his parents. They recently found out on their own that he's gay and are not very accepting of the gay community. How can I help him get through this? What advice can I give a friend whose parents found out he's gay and are taking it poorly?
You have some excellent answers on this one. I thought I might add a link that may help. It's listed as the source below. PFLAG is an organization dedicated to promoting acceptance, and more importantly embracement. I came out when I was 15. I was kicked out of school, my church and my home. I was lucky though - I had friends and some family that cared enough about me to embrace me for who I am. Your friend is very luck to have someone who cares enough to even ask the question. Hope this helps! :-)What advice can I give a friend whose parents found out he's gay and are taking it poorly?
Tell him to just ride it out. Unless his parents want to talk about where he's sticking his di*k, it shouldn't really come up. And if they want to bring it up he has every right to tell them to just mind where they're sticking their own dix.
I went through a rough time with this myself and really, it's just about his sex life. If he was straight it would be none of their business if he got off on tying a girl up, peeing on her, or dressing up like pirates.
I just want to know exactly where straight parents get off thinking thier gay offspring owe it to them to discuss their sex life.
If they are not open about it than they have just cut themselves out of a part of his life. How many straight people discuss such intimate details with their parents? He should just not talk to them about his sex life. Most straight people don't have to discuss such intimate details! Tell him to talk about the weather or something. If they are such bigots then small talk about the weather is all they deserve.
Being there for him is the most important thing you can do. He's definitely going to need a sympathetic ear. It's unfortunate that he's a minor, because it means that his parents can do with him what they want, even if that means sending him off to one of those ';ex-gay ministries.'; I hope that things haven't yet progressed to that level.
I find it a tragedy that gay men feel they must inform their parents of their own private sexuality. It is not necessary. Your sex life is your own, parents are not comfortable with talking of any sex with their children, let alone being gay. A gay person must learn to accept themselves for who they are, and not depend on the acceptance of their parents. Never tell your parents you are gay unless they specifically ask you. Even then, it is none of their business, any more than it is the child's business how often the parents are having sex, or what kind of sex the parents do. Your private sex life, irregardless of your age, is yours, and yours alone. Tell him to stop expecting his parents to accept him. They never will. It is he must learn to accept himself..then his life will be fulfilled.
it will run it course sometimes is long and windy, or short and wild. if the parent has true unconditional love like a good parent should for their child they will eventually love him for what he truly is, and accept that there is nothing wrong with him. The parents shouldnt be thinking about theirselves in this situation. Its not easy being gay.
Continue to be extremely supportive and hopefully his parents will soften up. Remember they are entitled to their views but hopefully they will not push your friend away and still remember that he is their son. It can be hard on a parent but I think that both parties just really have to come together. You are a good friend for caring so much.
Just make sure he knows that you are there for him and just make sure that when your with him you have fun so he doesnt have to think about his parents.
They should being to understand after a while.
tell him to tell his family that if they love him they will accept and love him wholly.

Is there any particular guideline for writing an advice book?
If you want a meaningful answer you're going to need to be far more specific with your question. What kind of advice book? What kind of guidelines? Literary guidelines? Structural guidelines? Stategic guidelines? etc etc etc....
Any advice about reducing noises coming from outside?
I live in an apartment close to a restaurant. The window of my bedroom it's near the restaurant too. From the end of 2004 a a legal process was started and after 4 months the noise stopped. Since november 2006 the noise returned and a new legal process was started against the restaurant. The legal process has been very slow and the noise continues. I'm tired of waiting. The restaurant with it's air extractor produces a noise I hate during all day and night. What can be done to isolate the noise coming from outside, during nights? I already know about earplugs and fans. Is there anything else you know about than can be used?
What insulating material can be used? Any advice?
Has it ever happened to you?Any advice about reducing noises coming from outside?
Usually, the transmission path of the noise is through the window as it's the lightest (least dense and thinnest) component in the wall.
If it's an option, you should be able to reduce the noise coming through by upgrading the windows (eg double glazing).
If you're renting and that's not an option, then installing some dense, noise-reducing material over the window (this means keeping it shut) should reduce the noise. There are plenty of products on the market for noise reduction (eg Wavebar). If putting this over just the window doesn't reduce it enough, then you could look at covering the entire wall.
Either way it means keeping the window shut so you will need to give some consideration to mechanical ventilation if you don't already have air-conditioning.Any advice about reducing noises coming from outside?
As tacky as it'll look, egg cartons. The paper ones, not Styrofoam. You just glue them all together and cover your walls/windows and it blocks almost all sounds out. (I put them on my ceiling when I lived below people and it blocked a lot of the sound out.)
Yo Carlos
at almost any home improvement store -- they have these foam panels for insulation that come in 4' x 8' sheets and in varying thickness from approximately 1 / 4 inch to around an inch and a half !! They usually have a ';silverized'; side and are in the insolation department !! They are extremely inexpensive and can be ';scored'; and snapped off to any dimensions within the panels size !!
To insulate the exposed wall (the exterior wall facing this problem that you have) with the thickest of these panels -- should show a MAJOR reduction in the sound coming in !!
Now, one could even fit a couple of these into the window frame (the thicker application being necessary simply because the thickness of the window itself is considerable thinner than the wall) and, then thick curtains could be placed over this to FURTHER reduce the sound getting in !!!
This is the best that I know of to help out here --- the best of luck to you for I'm sure that this has been an extreme annoyance and getting a solution here will probably enhance your life a thousand percent !!!!
Go to Lowe's, or Home Desperate. You are looking for Dow foam board. It is blue, and comes in varying thickness. Put a 1'; thick piece over your window, (cut tight to fit), and some 1/2'; thick sheets over your exterior walls.
You will probably notice a difference in your utility bill also, offsetting some of the cost.
Move.
you can hang fabric on your walls with bating behind to help check out www.hgtv.com and they should have something to show you how to hang fabric
Since you are in an apartment rather than a home you are buying or own (unless you are buying the apartment?) you can try going to a discount or goodwill store and buying several pillows and fixing them over the window to block out more sound.
If you don't like the pillows idea, try a doubble or tripple layer of mattresses from a baby bed or play pen. They should block out a good bit of the sound but on the down side, you won't be able to open the wiindows. considering the noise though, you probably haven't had the windows open in a good while any way.

Need advice on good places to vacation for skiing?
We're a group of 4 college students hoping to go on a ski vacation. We're from Cleveland, Ohio, and hope to travel less than 10 hours wherever we go to (we're driving). We need a place with a hill for advanced skiers and another for beginners. We also need it to not be too expensive of an area. Any recommendations for what ski places we should hit up?Need advice on good places to vacation for skiing?
Your best bet is most likely Seven Springs in southwestern PA. Snowshoe in West Virginia would also be an OK bet. I haven't been to Seven Springs in years. Snowshoe wouldn't be too bad either. I've never been there but I think it has more trails to offer.
Blue Mountain and Elk Mountain are both in eastern PA. They are both very similar in terrain and amenities. I prefer Elk because you don't have to ski over the same terrain over and over again to get to different runs, but the two resorts are about the best in eastern PA.
Gore Mountain in New York is about 8.5 hours away. If you are looking for a longer trip then I would suggest this or push a little further on to Vermont and hit Killington or Okemo. Western NY and most PA resorts are good for a full day of skiing. If you are looking for a destination, these are not what you want. You'll be bored by day #2, at least at Gore or most of the VT resorts there are plenty of slopes to occupy your time over a mult-day period.
Tremblant in Quebec is just over 10 hours away. Just another option I'll throw out there.
As for cheap...well, you can save on lift tix by buying ahead of time and by using some of the special deals. Many resorts will offer student discounts, so dig around on the websites and you can usually find a deal. Chances are you are going to do this trip over the holiday break or at some other time when a lot of other people also have off...that means deals are scarce. So dig deep. You might score up some multi-day tix and you can always skimp on the hotel room and slum it at the Inn of the Dancing Shiva when slopeside condos are not in the budget.
Consider the Road Trip and hit up a few resorts over a few days. You may be able to get a deal on Monday one place and Tuesday at another. I do this often. My January trip this year will take me to Smuggler's Notch VT one day, Mad River Glen VT the next day, and Stratton VT the next. We are still debating hitting Hunter or Windham NY on day 4. Regardless, the most we are going to pay for a day ticket will be $12 based on the deals we have. These aren't even industry deals...they are out there for everyone. You just have to know where to get them and be able to manipulate your schedule to make the time when the deals occur. Need advice on good places to vacation for skiing?
For a 10 hr drive you'd have to go somewhere east. West would be best, but for CO, you're looking at closer to a 20+ hr drive. Anyways, this place looks pretty decent in Pennsylvania: Blue Mountain Ski Area http://www.skibluemt.com/SkiBlue/index.a鈥?/a>
Mapquest says they're just over 6 hrs from Cleveland.
You could also make it to Vermont in 10 hrs according to this resort's website. http://www.killington.com/winter/index.h鈥?/a> I believe Vermont has the best skiing out east.
Go to Colorado....ski Monarch, it's the cheapest in Colorado that I know of (I've been skiing in CO for a long time, and that's what I found). It has GREAT snow, really. THe trails are amazing for all levels. It is the local's fave skiing spot and many college aged people too! If you all want to drive that far, then ski Monarch!

What advice would you give someone about bringing up their child?
It can be anything from the littlest thing to the biggest thing. Tell me your opinions and advice on bringing up a child (preferably at a toddler age). Thanks! What advice would you give someone about bringing up their child?
People are all different, The way you think is right will be completely different to what someone else thinks is right. The advice I would give would be that however angry you get never put your child down, don't call him or her stupid etc, always be encouraging when your child learns/wants to learn new things.
The best thing you can give your child in the world is Love.
Everyone has the ability to be a good Mum and as long as you show your child love and support throughout their lives you would have succeeded. What advice would you give someone about bringing up their child?
let your yes mean yes and your no mean no.start now and you should not have to deal with a little monster.i have two kids 11%26amp;9 because i spanked them when they were small now for the most part i don't have to.every once in awail i do but they know how to act around people, and they respect others too.if your husban or baby's daddy is with you make sure you two show a united front even you you disagery don't show it i front of the child.kids are not dumb they pick-up on things like that and will use it.also make reading importand spend the time to read to them and let the try to read to you it is time well spent and a chance to bond with your child. good luck, have fun,be safe.
Bringing up a child, despite what many say, can not be learned from a book or a CD that you pop into the CD player. Hey, my parents didn't have books or Cd's, hell, they wouldn't have been able to afford them even if they were around. I tried to read Dr. Spook, Spark, whatever his name was, back in 77 when I first became pregnant with my first daughter, and even though I was only 15, the crap he wrote, well, lets just say it did not fit my agenda. Bring a child up right in the way you want them to perceive their surroundings and the world, children learn from you the parent, everything, good and bad, which is the way a child should be taught, the right things to do and say and the wrong things not to do and say. Example and your heart-filled love and understanding, with this you should not go wrong - listening to others and their stories, well, you pick and choose which you prefer, but in all love has a lot to do with it - hand this out freely and you will have a wonderful person on your hands, for life. God Bless.
I agree with daisy. Also no sippy cups, real (plastic) cups, no pull ups, they don't help much with ';training';, teach him/her that when you say no, you mean no, not maybe. Don't negotiate with child before 5 or 6 or 7. You are the authority figure, you do indeed know what's best. Play with them a lot, hold them a lot, read a lot.
whatever you want, its your kid.thats what i say when asked.and i also tell people to ignore those other parents who try to tell you how to raise your kids.
Have a stance. Kids need direction, and you can't provide that if you have no particular views on anything. They won't learn appropriate ways of arguing or defending their position if they don't see you doing it. Then there's their moral upbringing. I personally would rather my daughter learns her morals from me, rather than her peer group! They need to learn which values are ';musts'; and which will be negotiable. For example, I could accept my daughter growing up to be a right wing voter (her dad and I are greens) but promiscuious or any other skanky behaviour is not in the least bit negotiable! I think ';agreeing to disagree'; is a good thing for kids to learn too.
time and love - give him lots of hugs, tell him you love him, praise him when he is good, give him lots of time playing, reading with him, talking to him, all this is important - please dont just sit him in front of a dvd watching childrens tv alone - enjoy your time with this child - it goes far to quick and you dont get these times back - good luck
Try to cultivate reading habit, give some colourful books to play.
Talk to them like little adults....explain everything properly...don't lie....they learn SO much so quickly before the age of 7. Those early years are their formative ones..the years before they are 7 are the ones which decide who they will be and how they feel about themselves for the rest of their lives...spend time with them...stay at home and be there for them....the years fly by and you will never again get the chance to be at home with that baby.
Love them! Give them lots of attention and spend time with them! Start discipline early, because too often people don't get a grip until the child is so set in their way that it's very difficult to correct bad behavior. Teach them to respect others, too many kids are disrespectful to their teachers and other adults. If your child feels loved and can respect others, they will turn out just fine!
to always put there child first
dont restrict your child from everything, give them some freedom and space. Teach them a understanding of things around them so they are knowledgeable about them and know what to do, and most importantly, give them fair disciplines rather then over the top.
And for the parent, dont forget what it was like to be a teen. Alot of parents do, and that makes it alot harder to understand teenagers, cos they forget what it was like themselves.
be patient, everything is about patience. Raising a child is not an exact science but if you have patience you can manage just about anything.
Don't shame them. Don't use negative criticism. Don't let them have their way because you are really tired, if the answer should be no make it a firm no. If you blow it, apologize to your child and explain why you were wrong.
Encourage them to problem solve and think for themselves.
Instill a love for learning in them.
When you feel like choking them look at the humor in the situation so you can cope.
Love their faces off you can't spoil them by loving them too much.
Kids are spoiled by of lack of limits and overindulgence not love.
Never tell them they are bad, stupid, etc.
If they say or do something bad, tell them it is a bad thing to say or do. That way they know the behavior was bad, but don't see themselves as bad.
If you choose to spank them do it on their bottoms only, don't slap faces or mouths it is humiliating and shows them your lack of self control. Spank or don't spank for an offense, the correction should be consistent every time. Really decide what is a spanking offense and what isn't. Spank them before you get mad not after letting them push you there.
If you have a short fuse and can't do that, don't use spanking as an option.
If you scream pretty soon they will tune that out as well so don't yell and carry on. Remember who is or should be in control. Again if you blow it, apologize, they really need to know its you, not them.
People are all different, The way you think is right will be completely different to what someone else thinks is right. The advice I would give would be that however angry you get never put your child down, don't call him or her stupid etc, always be encouraging when your child learns/wants to learn new things.

What advice would you have for those who are left behind should the rapture of the church occur ?
Call it the catching away , or rapture the term is understood here.
Christians are taken to be with the Lord, what should they do if found in this position, Christian ?What advice would you have for those who are left behind should the rapture of the church occur ?
Repent and ask Jesus Christ to save you, no matter what the cost.
This is your last and final chance.
Do not accept the Mark of the Beast, that is selling your soul to the devil. You will be living in torment for all eternity if you do.What advice would you have for those who are left behind should the rapture of the church occur ?
The bible say that people left behind to witness the rapture can still be redeemed if they keep their faith. They just have to remember that. I, personally would hate to be left behind, but I hope that my faith is strong enough should that happen, I would like to think that it is. I hope I never have to find out though.
The only advice for those who will be left behind is that no matter what they have to endure, they must not take the mark of the beast, because if they do they will surely be going to hell at the very end. I believe it will be mighty hard for someone not to take the mark, cause I've heard that if you don't have the mark, you will not be able to buy food or anything, so I would say that it is going to be very hard for those left behind. They will not even be able to get away from the anti-christ because they will have all kinds of cameras out on the highways watching people. And if you know anything at all, you know that they already have them cameras out on the highways right now. And I've got news for those who think that if they are left behind that they just won't give in to the anti-christ. First of all those of you who have heard the word will not have a chance to get saved, cause it says in II Thessalonians chapter 2, verse 7 is the rapture and right after is when the wicked will be revealed which is the antchrist and read on to verse12, and it clearly tells you that if you knew the truth, which means that you have heard about Christ, that God is going to send them great delusion where they are going to believe a lie and they are going to be damed, So if you have heard the word, you will not be able to do it at this time. Then if you go to Revelation 20: 4 you will see some people here that do get saved through the tribulation, so I figure that these souls have to be people that never heard the word.
After the rapture, the world will be the last place you want to be. Evilness will run rampant. Their will be no morals, no standards, no rules...
Someone lfeft behind will have to endure it, but it will not be easy. Christians are already frowned upon..imagine how bad it will be then.
If they are Christian they have gone to meet Christ in the air. If you are not going then wait right where you are. Those meeting Christ in the air are being changed and will return with him to reign on the earth for one thousand years. There is no rapture it is the second coming so relax. The Church is the body of Christ and he is our example. He could have sent ten thousand angels but he was not raptured and neither is the church.
The wicked that are alive at Jesus' second coming are slain by the brightness of His return. (2 Thessalonians 2:8; Revelation 6:14-17
And they live not again until the 1,000 years are finished.
Revelation 20:5 -- But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
It is already too late, once you have died, your destiny is set. By this point, Jesus has already made the proclamation:
Revelation 22:11 -- He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
So, they are in no condition (since they are dead) to receive any kind of advice.
What kind of advice would you give a corpse anyway?!
With God in your heart, and Jesus at the center of your life, you have absolutely nothing to fear.
The world will indeed end, we know not when, and the saved will be separated from the damned. Justice will triumph, but it will be God’s justice tempered by God’s mercy, not our idea of justice conditioned by our resentments and anger. And as we wait for the end times, let’s not look at the sins of others, but at our own failings, and pray that when we are judged, we will find in Jesus the tenderness He showed the woman taken in adultery, for all of us are at times unfaithful. And let us hope that our names are written in the Book of Life and that on the last day, when we are gathered together by Our Lord, He will wipe away all our tears.
So let us join St. John in saying
“Come, Lord Jesus, come.”
In your own good time.
Dont submit to the antichrist. Profess your faith in Christ. Doing so it is said will leave you either decapitated or in jail or both. I really dont know why some who believed would be left behind. I thought some unbelievers who didnt know Christ would be left behind and see divine evidence of his power. Then have the final choice to believe in Christ or follow the antichrist.

Any advice on how to capture a mother cat, I found her litter in my shed this morning?
I found a litter of kittens in my gardening shed this morning. They are very young; it doesn't appear that they are weaned yet. Mom cat is in the area but runs from people. I have the kittens in a cat carrier, sitting ourside on my deck (in the shade). The kittens would not take water from the bowl. I've set water out for the mom.Any advice on how to capture a mother cat, I found her litter in my shed this morning?
Well, my guess is that the kittens are around 3-4 weeks old if their eyes are open completely AND they made no attempt to run from you.
Three suggestions: you could put the kittens back and let mama take care of them. She will probably move them now that they have been discovered. You probably won't be able to find them again.
2nd suggestion: try to catch mama in an animal trap baited with tuna, mackerel, or sardines. Some humane societies will let you borrow them...then bring her and the kittens in to a confined area of your house.
3rd suggestion: if you can't catch mom...finish rearing the babies yourself. Of course, it is best for them to stay with mama but Weigh out the situation...one mom running free, having babies OR one mama plus all of her untamed kittens...running free and having babies!
Assuming you don't catch mom:
If the babies are between 3-4 weeks old, you can offer them some canned food and see if they will take to it. I would also get them some kitten replacement formula...see if they will accept it from a dish(a flat plate works the best) continue to offer it to them for a few weeks. If they won't readily drink on their own use a child's medicine syringe...bottles can be very difficult for kittens to catch on to!
Here are a few sites to help you determine their age and how often they need to be feed etc.

I do believe it is best to have mom rear her own young BUT when you are dealing with an unsocialized stray or feral cat...you must weigh out the final results. If these babies do not become socialized with humans, they will become feral, reproduce and you will soon have zillions of cats!Any advice on how to capture a mother cat, I found her litter in my shed this morning?
You shouldn't have done that if you knew the mother was around. Try taking the kittens back to where the mother is, leave them in the box or crate you have them in and just keep a distant eye on them. If they aren't weaned yet the mother can do a better job raising them than you can; and if you take the kittens from her now she will just wander off and all to soon come into season again and start making more.
If you want to do this properly, call you local ASPCA to try and come pick up the mother and the kittens; or get a live trap, put the babies in the trap and capture the mother along with the babies.
The mother is going to wait for the right moment and start moving the babies if she can get to them.
I know you meant well, but unless you want to raise the kittens on a bottle you would do best to put them back where you found them for now. She'll come back again wen she thinks the coast is clear.
Call the ASPCA or some other animal control center. They can possibly trap the mum but you have to act fact or the kittens will die from lack of milk and attention from mum. Better you had left them alone. The mother cat is likely feral and will not make a good domestic cat. If you disturb them she will abandond the kittens and that is the last you will see of her.
The damage may have been done - you cannot keep the kittens away from mum for more than 4 hours. They need feeding like any infant.
For now I would do as others have said let them go in the shed so mom can feed them. Then contact a local Cat Rescue group that deals with Feral cats, you can find one under shelters on petfinder.com. They will help you trap her and re-home the kittens. Most SPCA are over flowing with Cats %26amp; Kittens right now and may not have the resources to help you.
Put them back and try not to handle them with your bare hands she will come back and nurse them once your gone. Wait tell the kittens are old enough to venture out of the shed on their own and then see if you can find someone that wants a pet? Oh, and if it gets too hot in the shed the mom will move them to a cooler spot on her own.
Find a ';Have-A-Heart Trap';, which is a trap you put cat food in and when the cat goes in it slams shut without hurting the cat. Then you can let the cat go by pulling the lever. Ask your friends and neighbors to see if they have one, or the hardware stores carry them. Sometimes vets or the humane society have some that you can rent. We use these all the time to catch the local strays and take them to the APL. Good luck! I hope i helped~~God bless~~
you should ether buy or rent a human trap and put cat food in it and check it every 2 hours and win ever you get her put her in a quite space with the kittens with food water and a litter box then contact a non kill animal shelter and you need to by special formula for the kittens if the mother is not feeding them because the would starve to death
I WOULD LEAVE THEM BE.
I HAD THE SAME SITUATION. I CONTINUED TO FEED THE CAT AND KITTENS WET FOOD AND PLENTY OF WATER.
THEY WILL GET USE TO YOU.
WHEN THE KITTENS ARE OLD ENOUGH TO START CLIMING THE FENCE, THEN IT IS TIME TO EITHER GET THEM HOMES OR TAKE THEM TO A NO KILL SHELTER.
JUST MAKE SURE THEY ARE WEANED. AND I RULE THAT THEY ARE READY BY THEIR ABILITY TO CLIMB THE FENCE.
IN TIME, THEY WILL BECOME FRIENDLY TO YOU AS YOU ARE FEEDING THEM. AND HOPEFULLY.....SO WILL MOM...
BUT NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO MOVE MUM AND KITTENS.......
BEST OF LUCK...................
try tempting her with food and treats shes probably scared because you have taken her babies away from her open the door to the carrier and let her see them she will probably come up in her own time.

Recent advice is to eat protein at breakfast. How can I add protein without cooking meat or eggs?
I usually eat oatmeal with craisins and flax meal and soy milk. Occasionally, I have whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter and fruit spread. Always black coffee. Sometimes orange juice. I know this sounds boring but it's a quick and easy way for me to eat breakfast instead of skipping it. Just wondering if I should try harder to add more protein. Thanks.Recent advice is to eat protein at breakfast. How can I add protein without cooking meat or eggs?
the peanut butter in your diet is already a step in the right direction. without meat, eggs , or artificial stuff like protein shakes or powder (which are expensive anyway), the only things you have left are beans and nuts. try adding nuts to your oatmeal . if you have to have breakfast fast then a bag of nuts may be good to eat just after breakfast. if you have a bit more time you could microwave some baked beans and have beans on toast =D
hope this helps!Recent advice is to eat protein at breakfast. How can I add protein without cooking meat or eggs?
Yogurt, milk, cottage cheese, string cheese, any dairy products.
Peanut butter is fine for protein also.
You can also buy those easy microwavable sausages, bacon, and the jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches.
Also, there's no reason you can't have a tuna sandwich, or even leftover meats and vegetables from the night before.
Unless you're hard-core body builder, your usual breakfast fare should provide enough protein. As a matter of fact, you're eating very balanced breakfasts.
Peanut butter and soy milk are both good sources of protein. If you can, try to have a glass of milk or a cup of yogurt (soy or regular are both fine). A glass of soy milk or two tablespoons of natural peanut butter provide more than 20% of the recommended daily dose, so you are fine.
what you're eating now has adequate protein. in fact, they're very good breakfasts.
there aren't really many other ways to add protein without adding meat or eggs. for some other options though, you could try having yogurt with granola in the morning, sprinkled with nuts for protein, and maybe switch the peanut butter for almond or cashew butter and add fresh sliced banana on top instead of the fruit spread-the banana will be more satiating than sugared fruit.
Yeah, protein isn't something you want to pass on for breakfast, it can make you feel a hundred times better during the day, I don't eat a lot of meat so the best solution is to just drink a protein drink while having your normal breakfast (canned or milk+protein powder).
I drink carnations instant. It comes in packets powder or in a small plastic bottle. The flavors are strawberry, chocolate and vanilla. My favorite is the vanilla. Its got 2 times more the protien of an egg and has lots of vitamins and minerals. Its 4 dollars a box of like 10. You can buy it at any grocery store or at like walmart or where ever they sell food. Walgreens, rite aid, cvs. It will keep you full for a few hours as well.
Add protein powder to your oatmeal - you can buy it at any health food store or pharmacy.

Well, the peanut butter already has protein in it so you should be fine.
BobApril is correct! I buy plain quick oats, and then my hubby mixes those with a scoop or two of chocolate protein. I also put protein powder in our pancakes (made with wheat flour).
Make a banana smoothie with some protein powder in it. I used to down these in the summer when I played field hockey.

Any advice for a little kid who is nervous about what others think of her?
This little girl i know thinks everyone will make fun of her because she cant do a pull-up. She is 10 years old and so nervous. I dont know what to say to her.Any advice for a little kid who is nervous about what others think of her?
i now ignoring people is hard and i now it by expirience cuz im 14...but who cares what other people think of you??? just because they laugh about you doesn't make you a dork or dumb person...that makes THEM a bad person...and remember that what goes around comes around...they might laugh bout them later too...and im not telling you to go and laugh bout them cuz you shuldnt get down to their level ...just ignore them...and keep practicing cuz some day ull be able to do the pull ups...n if u cant ..so wat??? u cant be good at evrythin! just ignor them cuz U ARE A BETTER PERSON!!!Any advice for a little kid who is nervous about what others think of her?
Tell the ';little girl you know'; that it doesn't matter what people think of her. Kids are mean and everyone gets made fun of some times. She may get made fun of for a little bit, until another kid inevitably does something embarrassing and everyone goes after that kid. I couldn't do a pull up at 10 and I sure couldn't do one now. I don't have that kind of strength in my arms and it's irrelivant to my daily life. Who cares if you can't do a pull up? It's a stupid exercise anyway and it has no point.
its not like thats what kids do for fun, nut pull ups are hard so it does not matter a lot of kids cant do them im thirteen almost fourteen and it still does not matter to any of my friends or anyone else who can or cant do one. no one cares
At 10 years old it is hard but tell her to be herself and not worry about what others think. Tell her to keep trying for the pull up, there are actually a lot of people that can not do them.
it could be worse, she could be a special needs kid or get discriminated against, just tell her: Your problem is not the biggest in the world, but kinda sugar coat it so she doesn't cry.
Tell her to not worry about what others think. try her best shes better at other things that others arent

Any advice on getting rid of carpet odor?
I need help with carpet odor. My dog has peed all over and I've tried every product on the shelf but I still get a strong whiff of it when I walk in my home. Please help!Any advice on getting rid of carpet odor?
did you try baking soda?Any advice on getting rid of carpet odor?
If there are only a few pee spots, an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle (buy at PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus, Petco ... any pet store) will work if you follow the instructions EXACTLY ...
This means SATURATING the area with product, covering with plastic, and allowing it to dry on its own (be warned ... the stench while the product is working is HORRID!) ... and then vacuuming. Often 2 or more treatments are needed, and sometimes the product will discolor the carpet.
If your dog has ';peed all over'; ... your only option is to pull the carpet and pad (it's destroyed ... sorry), seal or replace the floorboards, and install hard-surface flooring. Once dog-piss has soaked through the carpet and into the carpet pad, it cannot be saved.
Get a household extractor and keep after it. Previous odor just tempts the dog to deposit more in the same place. The products from the pet store for the specific purpose are the best. Borax added to the cleaning solution of the extractor is good at neutralizing odor.
Here is a site that I would highly recommend. They have very high quality stain removal techniques. I would suggest repeating the process after the first application, and rinsing the rug out with cool water in between applications. Best of luck!
I have tried product from petsmart and none really eliminated the odor, only masked it. I do however own a product called What Odor? that has completely eliminated every odor i have used it on!!
Try using baking soda and salt. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt all over carpet and let sit for as long as possible (overnight if you can) then vacuum. The baking soda will pull out the odor and the salt will soak up the moisture. I hope this works. Good luck!
The only thing that works is a urine neutralizing spray available from pet supply stores like PetSmart.

What advice can you offer to a singer who has trouble controlling their breath?
I've been singing since I was a child. I've even considered American Idol. I love to sing and I'd really like to make a career of it.
One problem. My breathing. It's all over the place. Sometimes, I run out of breath and have to cut out some words of a song to be able to take a breath. And sometimes, when I take a breath, it's loud and noticeable (I've heard it's not supposed to be).
Is there any advice you could offer me?
Thanks! What advice can you offer to a singer who has trouble controlling their breath?
Breathing is very hard. It's probably one of the most difficult aspects of singing. When you inhale, breathe in as if you're saying ';ho'; (like santa xD) backwards. And breathe using your ';stomach'; or more accurately, your diaphragm. To increase your air capacity, train your diaphragm by holding the air in for several seconds and letting it out in tiny puffs. That should over time, strengthen your diaphragm and allow you to utilize more air. When you inhale, you should feel your abdomen expand, not your upper torso.
Good luck! What advice can you offer to a singer who has trouble controlling their breath?
When you breath, use both of your nose and mouth for if you just use your nose, it will sound that you have a cold and if you just do it with your mouth it will sound as if you have an asthma.. So breath with your nose and mouth..
Then as you inhale.. Hold it with your diaphragm.. And try to sing a the whole phrase of the song with one inhalation only, but if you can't try to snatch breathe.. but you can't just snatch breathe right away.. you must consider that before you snatch a breath, atleast the part of the song has its complete thought, if it doesn't it might sound redundant..
IM me if you wanna know more about it..
I hope that I helped you ;D

Can anybody advice how to sell my unused airline tickets in Europe?
Well you don't say with which airlines and on which fares. On IATA airlines (ie most non ';low cost'; ones), tickets are not transferable to another person unless it's a full economy class fare (which is very unlikely). Depending on the conditions of the fare you purchased, you can sometimes get a partial or full refund but if it was a cheap fare, chances are it is not refundable at all. Taxes are always refundable so if the airline says the contrary, insist as this contravenes IATA rules.
If you purchased your ticket with a low cost airline, again these are non transferrable to another person and most of them are non refundable at all (including taxes). However some airlines will allow you to cancel and you can keep the fare in credit towards future travel (minus a cancellation fee). so basically, anyway you look at it, unless you purchased a full economy, business or first class fare, you cannot transfer it to another person and therefore cannot ';sell'; your ticket

Is there advice about a Kindergartener who cries and screams when dropped off at school?
My son (almost 6) cries and screams most days when he is dropped off at school. He says it's because he has to go the the after-school program, which he only goes to 2 days out of 5 days. I've sent him with family photos, I given rewards if he went a week without crying, but it always returns. We've switched from rewards to punishment (no TV if he cries, no playdates if he cries, no dessert if he cries, etc.), which I feel awful about. The teacher is not terribly helpful and I know that he went through crying fits when transitioning to pre-school for 3-4 months. He is disrupting his whole class. He is the sweetest little boy and I've let him know that the ball is basically in his court now - he has to decide if he wants to have good, fun days or sad days. I'm at my wits end with no end in sight. Help!Is there advice about a Kindergartener who cries and screams when dropped off at school?
I know you feel like the teacher isn't helping, but she probably really is. Chances are he stops crying with in 2 minutes after you leave. To him (whether he knows it or not) its a way to keep you there longer. He just wants you to stay.
As hard as it is I recommend helping him get settled and then just saying ';I am going now, I will see you later, I love you very much'; and then blow a kiss (if you hug him he may hug and not let go). This is extremely hard, but I bet he stops crying soon after you leave.
I would strongly suggest talking to the teacher about it and seeing what she says. She may have some other ideas since she has experience with you son. But in my 8 years of teaching little ones I have found this works best.Is there advice about a Kindergartener who cries and screams when dropped off at school?

reward him for not crying. tell him he can pick out a place to eat or his favorite toy if he can do it for a while then he will get used to going and he will be fine.concealer

I have a drummer in the house and need advice on cheap soundproofing?
I need some very cheap suggestions for soundproofing a room, Please Please don't tell me about egg boxes they don't work!I have a drummer in the house and need advice on cheap soundproofing?
THANK YOU...Finally someone else who says NO EGG cartons. whew...
If I can assume that aesthetics aren't a major issue, I have suggestions.
Construction grade foam insulating panels, 4 x 8, Often Blue, and probably 2 inch thick would help.
Not knowing how many levels in the house or where Drum practice takes place, you might consider some level of insulating a ceiling as well, even with the installation of a drop ceiling. Carpet on the floor will help absorb some sound, as will fabric or drapes at any openings. In fact upholstered furniture in the practice room will add some sound absorbtion. A bookshelf along one or more walls,,,and that could help hide the foam sheets.
On a more personal note, you might arrange a schedule that accomodates everyone,,, even in some manner of compromise.
Steven WolfI have a drummer in the house and need advice on cheap soundproofing?
cork board does a decent job at deadening sound.
Use Q Tips for drumstick's. Nothing is going to muffle the sound.
If you're looking for cheap then the best and quickest solution would be practice pads for the drums. Anything else would not be cheap. There is soundproofing insulation available, but that would mean tearing down the walls. There is some soundproofing board available but that doesn't come cheap. Your cheapest way out is a set of practice pads.
I think you need to make the drummer take care of the sound proofing and make them do the research!
Basically you're looking for a material that is not flat and is instead contured. Foam mattress pads that look like egg cartons is realitivly cheap at Wal-mart. In recording studios they use several layers of drywall amongst other techniques. Carpet on the floor and walls helps. The more the better.
I used to drum. I used the corner in the basement. I collected and bought a few cheap used mattresses. They absorb the sound great. Put them on the walls and hang them from the ceiling. iItied them to the rafters..just drilled afew holes and roped them up. Jam away!!!!

Where can I find a free source to ask advice on home repairs from simple to complicated?
I'm looking for something like a website, 800 number, or newsgroup. It has to be reliable competent information, like from professionals that know what they're doing. I need answers that can tell me how to do it myself.
For example a question would be, my garage sits in a low spot in the yard and when it rains it floods. The ground is high on all sides. What do I have to do to fix this?Where can I find a free source to ask advice on home repairs from simple to complicated?
You need what is called a trench drain. That is if the water is coming in through the door. A trench drain is a long narrow drain that stretches the width of the front of your garage with a gentle slope from one side to the other. Basically a in ground gutter. They have covers for them so you can drive over them. You need to saw cut your driveway to install it. It ties into drain pipe that may already exist in your ground. If your downspouts drain into pipes in the ground, than you have a storm water drainage system. If you do not, than you need to put in a ';dry well';. That is hole in the ground that is lined with fabric, and filled with drain rock. The size of the hole depends on how much run-off the drain will take. A good starting point is four feet in diameter and four feet deep. You run a 3'; or 4'; tightline off your trench drain to a vertical perf pipe in the dry well. After you line the well with landscape fabric fill it with drain rock. Now if your garage is taking on water from the perimeter that is a similar fix, but you put in a foundation drain system to a dry well that is further away from the garage.Where can I find a free source to ask advice on home repairs from simple to complicated?
I believe that this forum is a good place to start, its kind of like a website / news group, even if you don't trust the answers you get, you'll still build a better sense of what to ask a pro.
Your Local government office will most likely have a list of some sort of contacts in your area.
Your asking people you don't believe to be competent, to provide you with reliable information as to where you can get good trust worthy advice.
I believe you really DO need help.
Thanks for YOUR support.
There are many DIY websites available. Most have Pros answering questions of all sorts. Type in ';DIY websites'; in your searchbar.
i cannot answer for the websites, but your garage CAN be lifted and a low wall put under it. dont laugh, it has been done. really not that hard.
This is to broad of a question, Right here at this site is really great. You may do well to get to know a handy man, There are many here, but it is your decision on which way to repair things, there are 500 ways to fix anything and 501 results from it. Shortcuts are not always the answer. Readers Digest has something I think you will like. Look them up. Google is really helpful too. As for your example questen. You may get a sump pump system.

How can I get paid for giving good life advice online?
I how a lot of great advice for people dealing with various situations in they're lives.
I'm always helping people figure out their problems and I want to get paid for it online.
Where should I begin? How can I get paid for giving good life advice online?
Good question. Build a resume of people you have helped with your advice. What have you really done? People won't pay for something that they cannot verify. Additionally, learn to spell or use spell check to sound professional. Maybe you can start a competitor to Yahoo Answers, but find a way to make people pay for it.
When building your resume be sure to note your education background. The Universities you attended and the advanced degrees you hold. This will impress people and perhaps will encourage people to pay for your advice.
If you do not have any qualifications, I suggest you get some!

I need advice on what color to paint my bathroom?
It is hard to decide because, the wall in the tub/shower area is black tile all the way up. The previous renter painted it light purple and I hate it. Any suggestions?I need advice on what color to paint my bathroom?
Since black will coordinate with everything, go out and shop for shower curtains first....find one you like (if you have a glass shower door, then shop for towels.)
Go with colors that calm you....shocking red or purple or royal blue are too startling in a bathroom or bedroom. You want to stick toward calm colors.
If you're completely stumped; go to Target and stand in front of their wall of towels. Which colors draw your attention the most? Then go with that color and color family.I need advice on what color to paint my bathroom?
A tasteful and modern solution would be to stick to rust/taupe/tan/camel...that family. Some say that a room feels smaller when painted a dark colour...but I haven't found that to be true. And besides...who needs a big bathroom? Its all about feeling comfortable and cozy when you get out of the shower...and nothing to me is more comfortable and cozy that earth tones....
something neutral... that way when you walk in you notice the black tile and not ugly walls.. also a lighter color will make it appear larger than what the bathroom is darker the color more closed in it feels
black will go with everything. Maybe paint the walls a coral color and use tan or ivory accessories. But your best bet is to just go with your favorite color(s). That way when you walk into the room you'll see your favorite color and they will help detract from the black tiles.
And one good thing about paint...if you do paint with a color you're not crazy about, you can just choose another color and repaint it...an easy fix.
Good luck
If you can't/ dont want to replace the tile, I would recommend a tan or mocha color. It is a more contemporary color combination and should warm the space a little to compensate for the cold black tile. Most any other color would make it look like Dracula's toilet.
id say 'duck egg blue' It will make the black less in your face.
: - )
black......
what color do you like
how about a soft green or pale yellow
Wow, the possibilities are endless. You could really lighten it up with pink, like Sherwin Williams' ';demure,'; and then use green accents - towels, tank set %26amp; such. If that's too feminine, then maybe a nice turquoise with peach accents.
White, just because I like the white/black look. Keep it something light. A dark color will make it look smaller than it is.

Can somebody advice me how can I remove glue from a hardwood floor?
I scrapped off commercial tile from a hardwood floor but the floor has a kind of heavy glue. I't's an old building, what I want to do is restore the original floor. Should I use a heavy duty sander first? Can somebody advice me how can I remove glue from a hardwood floor?
use a flat razor to get the big clumps off, then a little steal wool to pull glue out of the grain. you will eventually have to sand if you are going to apply stain or anything. i would suggest at least scrapping the area before sanding. otherwise, you will ruin the sand belt and may even burn the floor. Can somebody advice me how can I remove glue from a hardwood floor?
Great Question! That's a tough one though! Uhh... did you try waxing your hard wood floor? I'm not sure if that would help or not. If it doesn't help maybe you could consider like a cleaning team or something like that. Or just replacing the area it was in?
Hey I'm just guessing!
Go to your local home improvement store and ask! They make something that removes paint from hardwoods and does not damage the floors. It should do the same for glue. I got something at Lowe's years back, but do not remem the name of it.

Any good advice for me renting out a room in my home?
I own the home that my 19yr old son and i currently live in. He and his friend, also 19yr attend college together. He would like me to rent him a room, and it definitely would help me out financially. I want to be fair about what to charge, However I really dont know how to go about this.Any good advice for me renting out a room in my home?
Look on Craigslist at other rooms for rent in your area, to get a good idea of the going rate. It all depends on your area and if the room has a bath, how big the room is, and if you are going to include utilities or not. Around here, (southern CA) a 10 X10 room with utilities included go for $600-$650. This is for a average room in a average house or apt. If your home is in a expensive area, includes garage parking etc, you could charge more. It all depends on your area that is why I suggest looking on Craiglist as a guide for you to decide what to charge.Any good advice for me renting out a room in my home?
rental room rates;
a; find out what rentals are going for in your area.
b; determine the livable sq footage of your home
c; literally measure the available room for rent
d; divide the whole house by the room and get the % of the house
that you are renting out.
if a 2000 sq ft home rents for 1,000, and your home is
2000 sq ft too,
and your available room is 300 sq ft, that is 15% of the house, thus, 15% of $1,000 is $150.00
you might charge from 150 to 200 a mo.
I have been renting out a room in my house for about a year now and had 2 different people in there. The first was my best friend. Do NOT rent a room out to someone you know. It only causes problems! They WILL try to take advantage of the situation. Paying a little late, not cleaning up after themselves, etc. IIt will be hard for you to say no if they ask for more time on rent since you don't want to ruin the relationship. If you want to rent out a room, look on craigslist or in your local newspaper. A college student is your best bet. Make sure you check references and collect a damage deposit. Make guidelines of their responsibilities in the house and what areas they are not allowed in. Make them sign a lease, you can google rental agreement and tweak it to your liking. Also, do not allow pets, that is always a bad idea! It's not hard to figure out why. As for the price, that depends on the size of the room, where you live, privacy, bathroom share or not, and amenities. For Example, we live in Knoxville, Tn in a middle class neighborhood. The room we rent out is an average size, but he also has his own floor of the house, bathroom, and living room. He also has a private entrance and off the street parking. We have wireless internet %26amp; HD cable. Our house is also newly renovated. He also has his own cabinets and space in the fridge and freezer. We charge 450 per month plus there was a 150 security deposit. Hope that helps.
To be honest the only good advice is to advice you not to do such a thing.
put up flyers in public places, anywhere that has a free bulletin board, put up a 'room for rent' sign in your yard, etc.

Any advice on how to keep mice out of your house?
My house is clean...very clean...but also very old. I have filled all little cracks/holes in the foundation, put up sticky traps (the good ones) and professional poision, but they come back every winter. Any suggestions??? PS- no cats because 1. my husband HATES them 2. I hate kitty litter and 3. my dogs hate cats even more than my husband.Any advice on how to keep mice out of your house?
you need to fill all the holes and cracks EVERYWHERE with steel wool, pack it in tight. they will chew it and sometimes pull it out but when they eat it it will tear up thier digestive systems. also check that they do not have a nest somewhere---the little buggers are quite prolific!Any advice on how to keep mice out of your house?
Get rid of all your cheese.
we use these things that send out a high pitched sound or vibration they look like a 4'; box that has a speaker inside it it is called a pest and cockroach repeller. I am not sure were to get them but they work for us.
I moved in a house that was very old I filled all the holes too but I still caught 12 mice before I got my cats. (I have 2) Haven't had a problem since. Since you can't have cats you will probably just have to deal with it and set traps. Obviously they know a way in that you don't know about. Have you tried to fill those same holes with steel wool and crushed glass? Good Luck.
If you want to stay away from mouse traps you can get sticky boxes, they get stuck in the boxand just throw it in a five gallon bucket of water for a few minutes and the rat is gone.
sadly mouse traps
If you have a crack as small as a quarter inch they can get threw it.They can also climb so look at the seal plate, its between your foundation and the house, around pipes that come into the house, and check your dryer vent to make sure it is closing properly. The bait your using should appear to be eaten, sometimes if they don't get enough bait to kill them they get sick and become bait shy.And a real good bait trap is a live trap. You can put peanut butter in them and the mice will flock to it.I think they can smell it.I am a Pest Control Operator and I've got 10 mice at a time in these traps, there about 20-30 dollars.Set them along the wall in hidden area's.

What advice could you give me singing in the talent show?
Im singing ';if i aint got you'; by Alicia Keys, and in a way the song is kind of deep in the beginging, so what advice could you give, and preferibly with nerves, too.
Thank you! What advice could you give me singing in the talent show?
when singing in front of a crowd, look at the tops of their heads. don't do eye contact, it can be distracting. before you sing, do some warm ups by running the scales in various keys. think of a place far away that you really like and concentrate on that. that can help your nerves.
there are many things you can do but, this is just a few.
best wishes
rmWhat advice could you give me singing in the talent show?
dont eat anything heavy 2 hours before singing, 1/2 before have some water and suck on lemon wedges this will help your cords. as of the nerves, i have never found a way to deal with them exp to just get out there and sing.

Any advice on legitimate work at home opportunities?
Not get rich quick schemes, but how do I weed out all the scams and focus only on legitimate job offers?Any advice on legitimate work at home opportunities?
Your mind set is wrong and you will always find scams. My job for the past 5 years has been finding ways to make income from the internet. I approach it like this: I need to create a stream of income.
I do not approach it like this: I need to find a JOB online.
There is nobody who pays you to work online. Work at home opportunities means you set up a website, and you find ways to bring in YOUR OWN income from that website. You work as your own boss.
The closest thing to getting paid by a company online that you will find is affiliate marketing. For example, Google ads on your website. They pay you for each click. I send thousands of people a day to my site, and hundreds of them click. This makes me about $50 to $60 a day, Google pays me at the end of the month.
Another example of an affiliate program is referrals. For example, Amazon and Ebay both have affiliate programs. You refer people to their websites, and if those people buy something on those sites, you get a commission. Go ebay and look at the bottom of the screen, it says in small letters ';affiliates'; down there. Thats the program.
These are the closest things you will get to a work at home job. I know, this is my life, Im on here at least 12 hours a day for the past 5 years checking out new ';opportunities'; and majority of them require you to set up a website and do the work without supervision or guidance, just your own business.
If you continue looking for ';jobs'; online, you WILL be scammed. I can guarantee that.
The biggest scams being what Ann is advertising.
';Google Fast Cash'; is just a guide that explains what Google adsense is, what I just explained to you. It doesnt tell you how to get people to your site or any of that. It says
';as seen on AOL, ABC, NBC etc.';, but somebody just placed those ';credits'; on that webpage. It was never ';seen'; on any of those big networks channels. Its a scam.
They use domain names like ';news9tonight'; so you think its a legitimate news source. Thats just somebodys personal website. After that one gets shut down, they will setup a new site at ';news10tonight'; and then ';news11tonight';. SCAM.concealer

it has occurred to me that I have not explained my experience on the subject. so here I go:
I was born to a white family living in the San Francisco china town. Most of my friends were Chinese and I picked up the language with the help of my father (who knew Chinese after many years of business in Hong Kong). I was surrounded by the culture ever since I was young, and I became deeply fascinated with the art of feng shui. The idea that if I rearranged my living space, I could make my life better was fascinating to me. I studied hard and soaked up all of the knowledge I could from my adopted mentors, however I soon found that the once raging flow of information was drying up. My mentors suggested that I go to China to learn more (I was just out of college, and ready to travel). I visited Beijing and attended as many feng shui related seminars as I could handle, but soon I realized that my money was running out and I would need to find a way to use my skills to pay for my expenses. Soon came my first commission, and another, and another. The money was good, and I kept on learning more and more, but something was missing. None of my living spaces seemed quite right. They all were missing the total alignment that they should have had. I realized, I couldn't fully appreciate the commissions because I was being paid so greatly for my works. This defied the guiding principal of feng shui. By now I had learnt all I could in Beijing, and was ready to bring my new skills back home. I came back to my home and got a respectable job in the community. My feng shui skills took a break as my occupation took the lead in my life. Last year, my brother-in-law asked me to harmonize his living space. I realized just how long I had neglected feng shui, but it all came back; I was revived. Ever since, I have been slowly getting back into the game. My job pays for my life, so all that I ask is that my time spent be paid for.
I would be honoured if you let me harmonize your living space.
May peace follow your footsteps into the perpetual river of life.

dont get carried away with fengshui. i have a friend who published books on fengshui. She herself did not really believe in it. she said it was more common sense arrangement, just put in fancy harmonious terms. she did it for the money.
i had another friend who paid crazy money to remodel a house. He had doors and walls at 5 degrees to the rooms etc. wierd house. a year later he went broke, supposedly he did not follow the fengshui expert exactly enough. (maybe expert wanted 4.9 degrees?) or just an excuse.
i would say, just follow common sense, not a fad
so the answer to your question is yourself. You yourself should be the best fengshui person since you know exactly what, where and how you want to design your space. consult and research all you can, then decide yourself.
OK, here it is. Take the desk and face it to the wall so all you can see when sitting there is white. If you have any chairs for guests they should all be facing away from you. Make sure the room has all sorts of unpleasant odors. Animal excrement is good. The more it looks and feels like a morgue the better.

What advice would you give to the first time owner of a multi-family house?
I'm thinking seriously of buying a 3 family home near me. What can I learn from you all to shorten my learning curve? What should I expect? What are the pros and cons?
Thanks in advance. What advice would you give to the first time owner of a multi-family house?
I agree that you need to know the tenant/landlord law in your area. Are you going to occupy it also (the laws might be different if you are going to live there - don't rent to anyone you don't want to share your life with)?
I agree about having a great lease. Use it to protect yourself (and your tenants):
Check references
Check credit
Do NOT rent to friends (what a great way to destroy a friendship).
Do NOT listen to sob stories
Get a lawyer on retainer or figure out how much one will cost
Evict quickly
Know that one bad tenant can really put you in a bind.
If it works the way it is supposed to work it can be great.
Don't buy a place without knowing you could make the mortgage payments on your own if you had to (for some reason).
good luck! What advice would you give to the first time owner of a multi-family house?
Assuming you will rent out the apartments, you need to make yourself aware of Landlord / Tenant laws in your area. Draw up a good lease that will protect you from miscreants. Do background or credit check on new applicants.
Always do a credit report and a employment verification, ask for first month and a security deposit, put in the contract that if rent is late there is a penalty, that either party must give a 30 day written notice before eviction or vacating the premises and that tenant is responsible for paying court cost if it comes to that.

Any advice on applying to college as a transfer student?
I've been going to community college for the past two years and I am planning on transferring next quarter.
I'm getting ready to apply to 2-3 schools, but I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. Any advice? My GPA isn't that great, only around 2.9.Any advice on applying to college as a transfer student?
It is actually expected that people will transfer from State Schools/Community colleges to more competitive schools for various reasons, to save more or build a GPA.
2.9 is not strong and I would advise you to make amends if you can. With only two years, if you repeated a class or two you can see a strong jump.
With that said---you need to show development in your years, write your essay and make your case of why these universities should attach their name to you.

What advice do you have for organizing the best 10 year class reunion?
I want to know what people have loved and hated about their reunions. What were you charged? Did you think it was reasonable? What awards were given? What activities were done? What was the best part? How would you organize it if it were all up to you? Thanks! What advice do you have for organizing the best 10 year class reunion?
We just had our 30th, and we had a band and a med. size hall with contests, games and giveaways. We did a raffle ticket giveaway that we gave everyone who entered, for free. We gave prizes from money we got when they committed on coming to the reunion. We factored that into the cost.
I didnt get the band but I was not that satisfied with it.
I think you may be better with a disc jockey that will play tunes from what you guys requested in your time of grad.
Its a great deal of work and I just helped out. you need a strong group of people to help you, I would suggest that, and when you get some quotes on halls and whatnot, make sure you add a declorations and anything unexpected together with one cost for everyone. Leave nothing out. It will probably cost people 45 dollars per person or more. Unless u know someone that would donate their services or what have you. What advice do you have for organizing the best 10 year class reunion?

Teenagers are reallly obsessed with multimedia and handphones nowadays. How can it be stopped by teens themselves? What advice can you give on stopping obsessions of teenagers in multimedia?
Why do you want to stop it?
In the old days they had other things to obsess over.

What advice would you give to a person that has been betrayed by their spouse?
And when offering this advice, have you ever been in their shoes? If not what do you base your advice on?
I know this is more than one question but they tie together. What advice would you give to a person that has been betrayed by their spouse?
I follow the saying, ';To err is human, to forgive is divine';...and yes I've been in their shoes, and all I'm going to say is that the year was 2003 and my husband's lover's name was ';Pam the Gym Rat';...What advice would you give to a person that has been betrayed by their spouse?
Think long and hard before you act upon your initial thoughts. My wife and I went through a very hard time. We betrayed each other. She with held affection from me and I in turn went and found affection outside our marriage. Had I not acted upon my first instinct which was I'm going to make her hurt the way I hurt we wouldn't have come so very very close to divorce. We wouldn't have put our son through so much like watching our relationship deteriorate, hearing the talk of divorce, wondering if it was his fault. Putting ourselves through hell trying our best to kill what was at the time an 11 yr marriage. Had we taken the time to communicate rather than try so hard to hurt each other none of this would have happened.
So to answer your question straight forward I'd say try your level best to communicate with your spouse (including marriage counseling) and find out why this happened and if you forgive them and decide to stay married to them, get guarantees that it will never happen again and make crystal clear in your spouses mind what will happen if you are ever betrayed again
I think it really depends on how long you have been together. I have only been with my husband for four years but I thought he had cheated on me and he told me that one of his friends cheated on his wife. I thought he was talking about himself. I told him I would never speak to him again and it would be over for sure. But I love him and if he could prove he would never do it again. I would stay with him. It would be a lot of him sleeping on the couch and his opinion doesn't mean anything until I said it did but I think once you find your soul mate or life companion and you are comfortable with your decision, sometimes you have to give second chances.
it depends on what the betrayal was. if he/she cheated then its a matter of why they did it. do they love the person they cheated on you with? was he/she so frustated sexually that he/she had to resort to unfaithfullness? don't automatically jusmp to conclusions. maybe the betrayer didnt mean for it to happen. if you look at situations that have happened in other marriages, you'll see that there are so many different scenarios that could've happened. but i could be wrong...the betrayer could just be a cheating spouse just like many other cheating spouses. they got tired of it at home and wanted 'variety' or what ever.in that case...**** em. make them want you back so bad they will do anything. show them what theyre missing. and if you want them back too then get back together...if you dont then theyll know the mistake they made for the rest of their life
I have been cheated on before. I found out 6 months ago that my husband cheated on me. So yes, I've been in their shoes.
First of all, my advice would be decide if you want to stay in the marriage or not. Look at yr spouse's behaviour etc.
Then get counselling. Individual and marriage counselling for BOTH of you. Especially for him (the cheater) - he needs to find out why he cheated and how to prevent it from happening again.
If you are staying, get a Plan B ready. Have a secret savings account. Know all your rights - will u get the house? custody of kids? etc. Invest 100% into your marriage (if you're staying) but also invest 100% into Plan B, because you never know what sh!t might hit you in the future.
Most importantly, take care of yourself.
this is the advice i was once given,
ride it out, stay away for a bit, no talk, no nothing, when u feel like it and when u know what U wanna do, u go talk to him/her just to see where he/she is at ...if u want u can just meet up with him/her once.. and really think about, what U want..now that u know how HE/SHE is feeling...
Ive tried it on couple of friends.. =S it has worked, its really hard to advice ppl on risky situations, so it depends how close of a friend u two are...
u have to make up ur mind do u wanna stay or go, if u stay will u be able to trust him again? my boyfriend has betrayed me over and over again, and for some reason i choose to stay with him, that's y i am so unhappy now, after 7 years, i want out i had enough, i wonder if i would have left him alone the 1st time he did it, would i be so hurt now!
My husband and I had been married for almost 20 years..Yes, he betrayed me..We had a large farm, lots of animals and a beautiful Log cabin home..We lived in central Florida (I still do)...After we separated, I left the home because of his temper and abuse and he went out and found himself a new girlfriend..but that isn't the only place he betrayed the whole family...He started telling the family within a short few months that the house and land were being foreclosed on..The Bank is taking it all..I kept asking him if he were keeping up with the payments and he wouldn't answer...The day came for the bank sale and he said after the bills were paid, he was left with less than 5, 000...This was on property and land and home worth almost half a million dollars...He said he lost it all...Gave me a few dollars..less than 1000 to help with my rent..Move forward about 6 years..Dear Christian hubby and I divorced and he moved to Asia and remarried..My oldest daughter is a mortgage broker and one day when she was bored, she started pulling up public records..entering Dad's name..Guess what came up..Dear hubby had SOLD everything..sold everything as an unmarried man...Sold our home, land, furniture, livestock..anything that wasn;t tied down.He sold as an unmarried man while we were still married..and he walked away with all the money and left the country..Left me and the children with nothing..nothing...almost homeless..my attorney tells me there is nothing I can do about it..even tho I lived in that house for 15 years, being his wife..I hear my EX is preaching on Sundays....
Move on, they obviously did. I've been in their shoes, more than once. The best thing is to not grovel or seem desperate by looking back, contacting or even seeming upset. This is the best slap in the face that you can deliver. They'll wonder why they weren't a big deal. Worked for me!!
well if you really love the person you marry and wanna be with him /her for the rest of your life, then give him/her a chance..all you need is TRUST..
im in the situation right now..and we are going very well (as of now)..

Any advice on getting a business loan for a start up?
I have been working on my business plan and i am almost all set. But now i am worried about trying to get a bank loan. I quit my job because i wanted to concentrate on my business and because it wasnt for me. But now i have no income and no real assets. I am only 24 and have no real savings or anything. Will banks even concider me for a loan even though my business plan is really good?Any advice on getting a business loan for a start up?
The first question is how much capital do you need before you reach positive cashflow? If it is very small, I would look to relatives/friends to invest or even possibly use a credit card.
Banks generally don't make loans against business plans since there are no real assets as collateral. Furthermore, there is no cashflow from a going concern to support debt repayment so the anticipation of being repaid is essentially 0 (from the banks perspective). Banks are not really in the business of assessing business plans.
What you are looking for is venture capital, but more specifically seed money. I would start looking for wealthy relatives and friends. Sometimes entrepreneurs leverage up with credit cards to get things going.
You should have your plan reviewed by several people who know business. You can also start sending it to venture capitalists.Any advice on getting a business loan for a start up?
Depends on how much you want to borrow. Most of the High Street banks would want some kind of security for large loans but if you're only after a few thousand then it's probably worth shopping around. Most banks will provide some kind of support for business start ups so just go and talk to them.
Some banks will allow a free overdraft facility up to an agreed amount. If you go down this route then you need to be totally confident in your business plan and be sure that you'll be in a position to pay it back.
Might be worth checking out your local Enterprise Agency as they can often have contacts for financing new businesses.
Good luck!
Banks will not consider a business plan. Banks look at Financial statements and credit scores.
You might need to check, but I think the Princes Trust gives loans for business start-ups for the under 25's. Or phone your local Business Link for free business advice.

Any advice if I plan on joining the peace corps?
I've been thinking about joining the Peace Corps a lot lately and it is something I have always wanted to do. I'm 24, single, no kids, and I have already gotten my B.A. plus I鈥檝e already traveled abroad for a few months in Europe. I was just curious if there is any advice for joining the Peace Corps and what I should be aware of if I join? I have already filled out my application and I'm waiting on my letters of recommendation, so any advice is welcome! Thanks.Any advice if I plan on joining the peace corps?
I would research each area extensively through the peacecorps journals site, or through personal blogs and at least, get an idea of where you want to go, and what you will be doing there: English teaching, Health/Safety, Business Development, etc...Any advice if I plan on joining the peace corps?

What advice would you give to join a grad sorority chapter?
Hello,
What advice would you give to join a grad sorority chapter after undergrad? What advice would you give to join a grad sorority chapter?
The best advice I would give you, is continue performing community service...And if possible, try to perform community service in the area where your the chapter you desire to join. Chances are you will run into members and can establish a friendship with them. Also check to see if that particular chapter has a website. If they do, attend as many events that they have so they can get to know you. This is very important.
I always tell people that please be aware that unlike undergrad chapters, grad chapters don't have intake as often. Some every two years, some every five or six years. It varies. But if this is in your heart, and something you really want to do, then stick with it, attend the events, and when the time comes for intake they will remember you.
Hope this helps, and Good luck!concealer

Any advice for high school student wishing to enlist in the Navy?
My son, who is 16 1/2 is wanting to go NAV when he turns 18 and graduates from high school. Is there anything he needs to be doing now to prepare? He is not wanting to do officer training, but is looking towards a career in the military. Would any of you recommend vo-tech or any other speciality classes to get him ready for his future?Any advice for high school student wishing to enlist in the Navy?
Good Evening
Your son will receive all the applicable training that he is required to learn once he joins the Navy. He may get a taste of structure and military bearing by joining JNROTC, but at this point, not enough to matter.
The best he can do personally is educate himself about the military by visiting a local base, researching online at OFFICIAL Navy sites (www.navy.mil) prior to talking to a recruiter. No offense to the recruiting world, but they will tell him a lot of anything he wants to hear to get him to enlist.
He should decide what kind of career he wants in the military (his rating/job specialty) and talk to people about that job and what it entails. Then he should brush up on math, verbal skills and reading comprehension prior to taking that ASVAB (the entry level exam for the Navy).
The last thing he should do to prepare is increase his endurance for the Navy's physical readiness program. He has to be able to run a mile 1/2, do push ups and situps that meet the standard of the Navy. For 18, the run is around 12:45...
Other than that, the Navy can provide great benefits to young adults, including a steady pay check, education money, life insurance, medical and dental coverage and discipline. He will be demanded to be structured and he wil be challenged during his first enlistment.
Good luck.Any advice for high school student wishing to enlist in the Navy?
Mainly he needs to keep his nose clean, not get anyone pregnant, and avoid any trouble with the law, especially drugs.
The Military will overlook one time pot use, but any involvement with hard drugs makes it pretty much impossible to enlist, and will torpedo his chances for a security clearance.
Single parents can be difficult to deploy, the military doesn't like people who are difficult to deploy.
He should be paying attention in his regular classes. If he can't do that then the Navy is going to be a tough transition for him no matter what job he takes on. Specialty areas of study depend on what he's interested in. He should be using high school to round out his interests and try things he might like.
Assuming his scores are good, anything technical is typically a good career choice. He should talk to recruiters from every branch before deciding on Navy.
If the school has a Junior ROTC unit he should do that as much as he can. That will get him quick promotions once he gets out of basic.
He should focus on hard courses like math and science and skip the crap like Art.

Talk to some of their good friends to make sure everyone who needs to be invited is. Rent an outside picnic table or something where there's lots of room for everyone (If it's planned in during nice weather). I would make them a video of all their years together with things such as home videos and pictures from when you were younger and maybe show it at the party or just give it to them as a gift. After 30 years of marriage they aren't going to need it to be really fancy, they clearly only need each other to be happy. Basically: picnic tables with burgers, hot dogs, pop, beer, friends and family.
Have Fun!
Oh yay! That sounds like fun. Try to reacteate the scene where they got married, met, went on a first date or something. If you don't mind clearing it up you could maybe pitch a marquee in a garden of driveway? If not rent a town hall of a room in a hotel. Decorate it simply, flowers are expensive so maybe stick to candels? Get the grandchildren to come along for the begining and to maybe say little speeches about their grandparents. Cook simple but good tasty food that everyone will like. You could make little canapees to pass around at the begining, something as simple as little crackers with ham, cheese and an olive on top are simple but still quite good. For the maine dish have a buffet style affair - smoked salmon, nice ham and lots of different veg and potatoes and pastas. Make a nice cake, and personalize it with icing. Pin pictures of them up. Try to only invite those who need to be there and would be offended if not invited. eg. Maureen who they played bingo with ten years ago wont get too much of a sweat up about it. Try to keep the numbers down to around 200. Stuff like this gets pretty pricey! Best of luck. email me if you need any extra help etc. good luck!
if those LOTS of people can fit ur budget just have cocktails or afternoon snack like sandwiches and a few drinks just to keep everybody together.
have them dress up as if it was their 1st wedding where ur mom in white and dad in tux.. and guest in party dresses..
also u can show pics of them or if thepics or video from their wedding is still available have thse for everybody to see.
It depends on what you've got available to you...
If you have someone with an ample backyard, a barbecue is *always* fun for everyone, plus you can do a ';BYOB'; kind of thing, and kids can be involved as well.
Where did they honeymoon? You might use that as decoration inspiration...
Restaurants can get expensive very quickly, so if you're on a budge, I'd skip that option.
I'd go with only close family and friends- and perhaps even make it a pot luck. If you ask people to each bring a dish, you and your sister can focus on a nice fancy cake and wine or even champagne. People know the economy is bad and times are tough so likely they will all be more than willing to cooperate with your request.
ask everyone you invite if they can bring a dish to pass..get pictures taking of all your parents kids with a little saying on them telling them what they mean 2 you...plan them a trip and don't tell them where they are going give them a map and tell them to follow the map.......like book them a room overnight somewhere...
