What advice would you give to a couple in the moment of divorce ?

I would advise for the sake of children do not blame each other and for the sake of children unite on important occassion.

Please give decent answer as this may help many. What advice would you give to a couple in the moment of divorce ?
I agree. Putting the children first, especially if they have young children. Acting as polite and amicable as possible, spending time together with the kids, etc. will show them that you two have respect for each other and for the family in general.

Its hard to do, especially if one spouse hurt the other, but essential for the sake of the children involved. Divorce is hard on kids, I think its our responsibility as parents to make it as easy or easier to deal with as possible for them. What advice would you give to a couple in the moment of divorce ?
You have some good points. I would say that this decision depends on many circumstances. I would think that the couple has already had counseling and feels that there is no other route to go but make sure that there is no other way for the sake of the children.
I agree with your statement.

In addition, I would advise couples to think about and learn from their mistakes.....and not to rush into new relationships/marriages soon after their divorces.

Any advice on how to get started as a Freelance Writer?

I need to earn some extra income. I believe that I have excellent writing and communication skills. However, I do not

have a college degree. I would appreciate any suggestions on

how to proceed. Maybe someone (already) successful in this

area can suggest a ';book'; or a ';website'; that might help.

Thanks!Any advice on how to get started as a Freelance Writer?
Send e-mails to the editors of local newspapers and magazines inquiring about freelance opportunities available. You'll likely get grunt work and stories their top reporters don't want to do.

Don't count on always getting paid either. Sometimes you'll write several articles trying to prove yourself and end up with no pay. It all depends on the publication and their policies.

What advice can you give someone starting their first job?

I'm starting my first job tomorrow (Retail) and I'm really worried. What if I take too long ringing people up at the register, or I forget to remind them about the credit card they can get, or if someone comes in to yell at me for something not being up to their standards?

Any advice on ways to relax on the first day of the first job and avoid a total meltdown? What advice can you give someone starting their first job?
Good luck! You'll do fine. Relax, let your personality come through - that's what you were hired for, right?

As the others have said, do what you're told, and ask for clarification if something seems unclear. Since you're new, they'll cut you some slack, but pay attention so you don't have to ask the same thing a million times - that gets old real fast.

If a customer yells at you, be very polite. You cannot yell back. Just be calm and cool and ask what you can do to help fix the problem. If you cannot, and they still want to yell, offer to put them in touch with your manager - that should cool them off.

When you feel worried (and you likely will - first-job jitters), just take a deeeeeeeep breath, hold it for a second, then expel it slooooooooooowly. It will help calm you down.

Smile. Whatever happens, just smile. Be nice, be kind.

Everything else will fall into place as time goes by.

Oh, don't forget to save part of your earnings (at least 10%) and put some of it away for education, too! :)

Good luck!

- FFWhat advice can you give someone starting their first job?
I felt the same way when I started my first job. You gotta remember your new you'll warm up to things. Just do what your asked of and try to relax after you get the hang of it you'll be great.

Smile

Ask questions if you do get stuck. Employers know your serious about your job when you ask what to do rather than just guess, shows you care.

Remind yourself you'll get the hang of it.
just remember that what you forget today, you'll remember, in time

with practice you will be an expert in no time

be gentle and patient with yourself and others...

pat yourself on the back when you know you did something good

there will many more jobs besides your first, but there has to be a first....
Keep your head down and do what your told, and ask questions when needed. Thats what i did and my boss liked me and gave me a whole bunch of hours my first check after two weeks was around $400
It's your first job no one cares. And if they care bad enough to yell at you go tell your supervisor. Retail sucks by the way but try to enjoy it...
You will be fine.

Just beware of fake dollar bills.
Good Luck

Any advice on the best way to house train a male puppy German Shepard?

I am dog savvy, but I've never trained a male German Shepard puppy. Anyone extremely familiar with or breed them? I don't need jerk off advice so please if you have never house trained a puppy DON'T BOTHER.Any advice on the best way to house train a male puppy German Shepard?
Training a GSD pup isn't really any different than training any other breed. It takes consistency and patience.

Devise a feeding/elimination schedule and adhere to it strictly. Take the pup out hourly (or every couple of hours depending on age). When the dog eliminates outside, offer physical and verbal praise, and the occasional treat as a reward. Be consistent with this and you should have very few accidents in the process. You could also explore crate training as an option. Here's a link.

You can train a german shepard the same way you train any dog. Its their individual personality that can effect how you train them.

Here's a great article on house training

House Training Puppies and Dogs

If given a choice, dogs prefer to eliminate away from the areas where they eat, sleep, and play. Dogs eliminate in the house for a variety of reasons:

- There might be a medical cause for the problem.

- The dog might not have been properly trained to eliminate outside.

- The dog might be marking his territory.

- The dog might urinate when excited, intimidated, anxious or upset.

House training is accomplished by establishing a surface and location preference AND by preventing the dog from eliminating in unacceptable places. Crating and confinement needs to be kept to a minimum, but some amount of restriction is usually necessary for the puppy or dog to learn to “hold it.” Understand that house training demands an investment of time and effort. Puppies are sometimes not fully house trained until they are 8-12 months of age. As a general rule, a puppy can only hold his waste for the same number of hours that he is old, in months. In other words, a four-month-old pup should not be left alone during the day longer than four consecutive hours without an opportunity to go outside. By the time the pup is four months old, he should be able to make it through the night without going outside. Adult dogs adopted from shelters are often not fully housetrained and need a refresher course.

What to do:

1. Keep the dog on a consistent daily feeding schedule and remove food between meals.

2. Know where your dog is at all times. To anticipate and prevent accidents, you need to watch for early signs that he needs to eliminate. These signs include pacing, whining, circling, sniffing and leaving the room. If you see any of these, take the dog outside as quickly as possible. Not all dogs learn to let their owner know they need to go outside by barking or scratching at the door. Some will pace a bit and then just eliminate inside.

3. If you cannot watch the dog, confine him to a crate, a small room (with the door closed or baby-gated), or tether him to you with a leash that does not give him much leeway. Gradually, over days or weeks, give the dog more freedom. If the dog eliminates outside, give him some free time in the house (maybe 15-20 minutes to start). If all goes well, gradually increase the amount of time out of confinement.

4. Accompany the dog outside and reward him with praise, treats, play, or a walk whenever he eliminates outdoors. It’s best to take the dog to the same place each time, as the smells may prompt the dog to eliminate. Some dogs will eliminate early on in a walk; others need to move about and play for a bit first.

5. Take the dog outside on a consistent schedule. Puppies should be taken out every hour, as well as shortly after meals, playtime and naps. All dogs should get out first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and before being confined or left alone. Adult dogs must get out at least four times a day.

6. If you can catch the dog in the act of eliminating inside, SHRIEK loudly. Immediately run to the dog and rush him outside. If he is small, pick him up; otherwise, just grab him by the collar and run outside with him. The idea is to startle him, which should stop him in mid-stream. Allow the dog to finish outside, and reward him. If you do not catch the dog in the act, do not do anything to the dog.

7. Clean accidents with an enzymatic cleanser to minimize odors that might attract the dog back to the same spot.

What not to do:

- Do not rub the dog’s nose in his elimination.

- Do not scold the dog, unless you catch him in the act of eliminating in an inappropriate place.

- Never, ever physically punish the dog for accidents; that includes hitting with a rolled-up newspaper.

- Do not crate your dog if he is soiling in the crate.

- If the dog enjoys being outside, don’t bring the dog inside right after he eliminates—he may learn to “hold it” to stay outside.

- Do not use an ammonia-based cleanser. As urine contains ammonia, this could attract the dog back to the same spot to urinate again.

Above all, please be patient! If a puppy has an accident, it is not because he is spiteful or lacking in the ability to learn—it’s because the owner failed to adequately supervise him, didn’t take him outside frequently enough, or ignored or was unaware of the dog’s signals to go outside.

Well, whats worked for me is crate training. Keep the pup in the crate at night to minimize accidents. first thing in the morning take him out. When he goes outside, go fun nuts with the pup, priaing him a lot. A half hour after eating or drinking, take him out! If he goes inside, use a good stern voice, show him what he did wrong, tell him a good firm No, tap his nose with a finger, and bring him outside, when he goes outside, praise him. get down on all fours and play with him, let him know he did good. If your consitant, he should be house trained in no time. But the biggets step is you be persistant, if your not persistant, youll send mixed signals to the pup as to what is right and wrong. Give him plenty of potty times during the day too. Even at night, you might want to just set your alarm, wake up, take him out, let him know he did good. Then back in the crate. Wake up first thing in the morning, and bring him right outside, your potty can wait, but let him do his so he gets the message that it has to be done outside.
The key to rock-solid housetraining is to start the day your pup comes home and stick with the program. Using a crate is the easiest method. (For older dogs, see housetraining adult dogs). In a nutshell, here are the basic steps:

1. Take time off to housetrain your puppy.

2. Start using a crate the day you bring her home.

3. Take your puppy outside for a bathroom break every one to two hours during the day.

4. Plan a middle-of-the-night potty run for young puppies.

5. Shower her with treats and praise when she does a good job.

6. Don't punish your pup for accidents you haven't seen.

I have had 2 female GSD, I shouldn't think there is any difference in the sexes. We crated her at night, they both woke me up approximately 1 in the morning for a potty break, then straight back inside and back too bed. It took them a couple of months before they could sleep through the night, but they never had an accident in their bed. During the day I took them outside every 60 minutes, always took some treats in my hand and if they did do something I said ';go potty'; continuously while they did it, then gave them the treat. They were potty trained very quickly, they are clean intelligent dogs, it will not be a problem

What advice can you give for someone looking for donations?

My school is holding a market day and we have to find donations to help pay and provide supplies for a stall . We atr sllinhg nachos.

Also, what is a catchy name for a nacho stall? What advice can you give for someone looking for donations?
Earn the money doing chores as a group. Put out flyers announcing a chore day and list of chores you will do for money like lawn mowing, window washing, garden clean up, flowerbed clean up.

Name the Nacho stall,';Not your Nachos';, ';unless you buy';What advice can you give for someone looking for donations?
thats 2 distinctly different questions.

Answer to Q # 1: don't sell candles, magazine subscriptions, cookie dough - keep it simple and inexpensive - like chocolate almonds

Answer to Q # 2: dippers
roll around in dirt get a piece of card board and hold a sign up and say if you don't donate this is what I'll look like.
call id nacho nacho libre you can have a picture of a masked nacho chip wrestler name ignacio

make sure you dont call it nacho gratis....u wont earn any money
Contact local businesses. Grocery stores would be a logical place to start because even if they don't donate cash they may donate product.

Also talk to some of the parents involved. Perhaps they'd be willing to 'chip in' a dollar or two.

I like Macho Nacho as a name.

  • What advice do you have for organizing the best 10 year class reunion?

I want to know what people have loved and hated about their reunions. What were you charged? Did you think it was reasonable? What awards were given? What activities were done? What was the best part? How would you organize it if it were all up to you? Thanks! What advice do you have for organizing the best 10 year class reunion?
We had a 3 days of events for our 10th reunion. The first night was a reception at the fancy hotel in town, with appetizers and a no-host bar. The fee was around $20. The next night was at the local salmon bake, where we had dinner for about $20. (I would have liked a more high-end event, and would have paid the higher price for it.) The last day was an all-family picnic, which was a free potluck, with some of the items purchased with class funds.

One of the best parts was our class book. We (the reunion committee) sent out blank pages for everyone to fill in, chronicling their changes since graduation. Some people did them in advance, and many did them during the events (side note: it is entertaining to see what people will write about themselves after a few beers). These pages were copied and made into booklets that were sent out to everyone who submitted a page.

Be sure you start notifying classmates early 鈥?a 12-month save-the-date card would be good. Also consider a website to broadcast updated information; we used Geocities to create a free page, and it now shows up in web searches. For snail-mail, I uploaded a spreadsheet of names and addresses to NetPost at USPS.com and sent hundreds of postcards at the touch of a button. Be sure to note which postcards are returned to sender, and add a section on your website for ';lost classmates';, so that people can tell you what they know about people鈥檚 whereabouts.

Finally, keep good records from this reunion so that the next reunion will be a breeze!

What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?

I don't have a good track record with girls. I had a couple of friends that were girls in the sixth grade but none at all since then...What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?
All the nerds I knew from High School are now very successful people! Just always laugh with them. Be yourself. If all else fails, watch some teenage flicks where the nerd gets popular. For real though, be you and love life! It shows!!!What advice do you have for a male nerd about to enter high school?
if you are a smart nerd, ask your teacher if there is anyone they think might need tutoring, then after several sessions say hi to that person in the hall and ask how they are doing with whatever class it is, thats is your first introduction into a group, be confident, and as always knowledge IS power, i was also a nerd in HS before i went into the Marines, i helped out with classwork, artwork, and relationship issues, an open ear and an open mind are what most people look for in a good friend, good luck, and if someone tries to bother you apologize to them, even if you did nothing wrong, be sorry for them and their stupidity, let insults roll of you like water on a duck, laugh, a smiling face is the most disarming one, be proud of your intelligence and most important be tactful, in everything you do, in every move you make be conscious of those around you, tact will keep you safe and your intelligence will keep you sane, good luck, you'll need it
just be yourself. ont try to act lik something your not. there is a girl out there for you, and eventually you will find her. until then, just try to make it through high school. Good Luck!!!
    Look man,

The problem with trying to ';be yourself'; is that you're at an age where you not really sure who that person is, you're just coming into maturity and looking for identity.

Don't obsess. Don't obsess about trying to fit in, and certainly don't obsess about no girls; the easiest way to get into that high school drama BS is to get involved with High School drama BS.

Check it: focus on your classes, be cool to everybody, and just relax. You'll make friends with who and where you should, and those people that give you crap about anything will get theirs, trust me, they get theirs.

Because when it comes down to it, high school is like most all other social interactions; if you can forward the respect and are willing to hear people out, really listen to them and think about things from their point of view, then you'll be fine. People will be able to see that.

If you ARE a nerd and do eally well in class, then people are probably going to want help, or at least answers. This is a good opportunity to prove you are a cool mofo, explain to them how you got the answer/conclusion so they understand it too; this is the difference between giving them a fish (the answer) and teaching them to fish.

Bottom line is it isn't about girls or friends or all the other crap TV's got slammed into everyone's brain. It's about YOU doing what you WANT to do to really make these the best years of your life, not what you feel others expect you to do.

Everyone's nervous about going into HS, but it's gonna fly by, and when it's over, and your walking to your car after graduation, you look back and think, *I was worried about THAT?*

Good times, good times. You'll be ok.

    Cheers!
Well, you've got to see yourself as someone that 'you' would want to get to know. start off by making one friend, guy or girl. that one friend will help you feel more comfortable around other people and you'll show more of yourself around that person. \

As for that one friend, find someone that you most likely see yourself saying hi to.

observe your surroundings and think out loud; 'gee, I wonder why this . . .'

someone will pick up on it and before you know it you'll know about them, and they'll know about you. You might be acquaintances, but you'll feel more comfortable around them.
    Bring money-hire bodyguards.
    dude, be yourself

no one likes a person who acts like other people, plus...those people won't totally become them and people will see right through that

as for girls, if you're in a school that have designated class throughout the year, then it's easy to know all the girls in your class

just say hi at first, don't talk too much

    sometimes ask them about homework like ';what do you think of this assignment?...oh i hate it';

and hopefully they will agree with you

and try to participate in everything that your classmates do

    good luck
dont worry about it. at my school everyone loves the nerds.
    LOL.

Dont be a nerd! Well, you can be a nerd at home, but not at school! haha. Try to get some cool clothes maybe from Hollister or PacSun or American Eagle. Get a good hairstyle. Dont talk funny or use huge words...good luck
i have to agree with the people who r telling you to be yourself, but it wouldn't hurt if you dress more hip, don't try to answer all the questions that are asked in class, offer your help to the less intelligent, don't ridicule the people that are not as smart as you and above all don't be the teachers pet.
i'm also entering high school next year. the high school i'm going to is all racially diverse. it's actually the most diverse high school in the world. we had an article in National Geographic about it.

um, my advice would just be not to say any thing to any one you find threatening, as they may take it as an insult.
Are you REALLY a nerd or you are just feeling bad because you didn't get any girls?

If you are really a nerd - (into Star Wars or anime or chess club or science) the first step you need to make is decide - do you want to remain a nerd or do you want to blend in or become cool? If you wish to stay a nerd then join up with the other kids at your school who are like you. If you like anime join the anime club, if you like science then join all the science clubs and activities. However, if you DON'T want to be a nerd anymore - then do the opposite. Don't join any of those clubs - be careful what you say - don't start going around talking about statistics or saying anything that would make someone think you think you are better than them. The secret to being 'cool' in highschool is to act like you don't give a **** about school. If you want girls act you don't give a **** what they think - but flirt with them - if you want to be cool just act cool. Have confidence. Go out and buy some new clothes. Baggy is cool right now. Figure out what look you want - preppy, gothic, or gangster - and go out and get those kinds of clothes. Don't be too quick to label yourself completely though or people would be able to tell it's fake. Just be yourself without going overboard into one type of clique. If you feel more gothic just buy a few concert T's - don't freak out and overdo it with black makeup, eyeshadow, tight pants, and 20 black T-shirts. People would more than likely call you out on that unless you've always been that way. If you feel more gangster a safe bet is to get a few Ecko or Rocawear shirts - buy ONE chain, a few good pairs of sneakers - and buy all your shirts and pants 1 size baggy. Get a few rap CDs but don't overdo it especially if you're white.

Just figure out what your own edge is and bring it out. The key to being 'cool' in high school is being 'bad' - or at least acting bad. You can get good grades but keep it on the down low. If someone asks your grades - lie- tell them you failed - say oh that ******* teacher this and that. I gaurantee you that's your ticket to being more popular. Stupid I know but that's how it is.

The good thing about entering high school is that no one knows your old reputation yet. This is your key to starting over - (hopefully it doesn't put too much pressure on you). Like the other people said - don't copy other people or act fake. Don't completely change who you are - just give it an edge - alter it a little. High school is totallly all about tweaking and changing things. I entered high school a quiet ';loser';, spent 2 years as a rebellious but emotional ';grungy / rocker'; and left high school loving hiphop and urban style.

To this day I am still a mix of all 3.
Be a good dresser and keep your appearances up. If you are REALLY attractive, a girl will like you whether or not you're a nerd.
    Be yourself

There is no future in ';image-projection';--it will turn on you and bite you in the butt big time !!

You're going to find that there is someone (probably several someones) that you fit to a tee in the place where you will be ...

They don't like to admit it---and their dry spell isn't probably as

lengthy--but even jocks run into the periods of times when the female thing just isn't happening--so take heart
    lose the pocket protector !
I'd agree with many others here, be true to yourself and yourself alone and remember that high school is not real life. When you move on from school you will see the ';popular'; people who tease you fall into the less pleasant ranks of society (prison and the likes) While that may not be true for all of the unpleasant people you encounter, those people will not bother you after your high school stint.

Remember that Women are an enigma no matter what their age, but one thing is certain, if you try to change who you are to ';pick up chicks'; they will not like you for who you are, only for who you pretend to be. Just be yourself, and your truly compatible companion will will fall into your lap. Like computer games? don't give it up for someone who thinks its ';nerdy'; find a woman who enjoys them as well, you will be happier in the long run.

Also, don't stress about women troubles, high school is rarely the place you will find true love, and meaningless relationships are exactly that, meaningless. I understand today's pressures about relationships and sex in high school, but its honestly not worth it, when the time is right, its right and you will know and so will she.
Stay a nerd! Just be yourself. I know this sounds totally stupid, ';be yourself!'; but it's true. Advice from a fellow nerd. I spent my first two years of high school as a ';closet'; nerd, but now I love talking to people about space camp and othe nerdy things!
my advise, be a bad boy!!! girls love bad boys! but not too bad!
Be yourself. Hang out with other nerds. Maybe you'll find a nice nerd girl.
I just need to be yourself and pursue you ideal of how to be social and perfect. Time will come, and you will find a girl.
I think you should worry more about fitting in with other boys than getting a girlfriend right now. Hang out with all types of people if you can, not just people exactly like you. Try not to broadcast ';I'm a nerd'; to everybody (i.e. keep the Yugioh cards at home). Be friendly but not desperate.
My advice for a male nerd entering high school is to be true to yourself. Don't be a follower. Someday years from now you will be successful, happily married, and sought after by the women that may or may not scorn you in high school. Find things that you are interested in and focus. You'll always be happy if you realize that what others think of you is none of your business.
